VILNIUS TECH hosts guests from Poland: new opportunities for education and students discussed
On the 22nd and 23rd of May, a delegation from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland, visited Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH). This visit is part of the ATHENA European University Alliance, of which both VILNIUS TECH and UMCS are members.
This meeting is a reciprocal visit following VILNIUS TECH's delegation visit to Lublin in August of last year.
During the visit, the UMCS delegation toured the new laboratory building of the Faculties of Mechanics, Electronics, and Transport Engineering at VILNIUS TECH (METIF). They were also introduced to the activities of the soon-to-be-opened VILNIUS TECH Sustainability Hub and visited the VILNIUS TECH Creativity and Innovation Centre "LinkMenų fabrikas". Additionally, the delegation held meetings with representatives from the VILNIUS TECH Business Management and Environmental Engineering faculties.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss and promote further collaboration among researchers in the fields of sustainability, environmental engineering, business management, economics, logistics, and creative industries. Discussions included a model for bilateral funding for research groups, the development of ATHENA competence centres and clusters, dual degree programmes, topics for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) courses, and the offer of micro-credentials, which will be available to VILNIUS TECH and all other ATHENA alliance students this autumn.
The UMCS delegation was composed of Rector Prof. Dr Hab. Radosław Dobrowolski, Vice-Rector for Education Prof. Dr Hab. Dorota Kołodyńska, Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation Prof. Dr Hab. Wiesław Gruszecki, as well as UMCS faculty deans and representatives of international relations from UMCS.
VILNIUS TECH is part of the ATHENA European University Alliance, which constantly offers mobility and development opportunities for students and staff. The ATHENA alliance partners are universities in ten European countries (Greece, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, France, Germany, and Ukraine).
