ATHENA Sustainability Summer School by VILNIUS TECH welcomes participants from 8 countries
This week VILNIUS TECH Sustainability Hub launches its first kick-off initiative: Sustainability Summer School. The summer school is organized in the form of a blended intensive programme (BIP): an online session will be held on 18-22nd of September, and on-site session on 25-29th of September.
Sustainability summer school will host 36 students from 8 ATHENA European University partner universities interested in sustainability topics. The main focus of the summer school is problem-based solutions for different organizations and topics range from sustainable development, noise pollution, green energy to green communication, green washing, sustainable mobility and others.
“We are happy to host these future sustainability experts from all over Europe – from Poland to Portugal. This summer school serves as a platform for them to collaborate, share ideas and grow as young professionals.”, says Dr. Adas Meškėnas, Vice-Rector for Strategic Partnership at VILNIUS TECH.
European Commission is making a great effort in order to create coherence between industrial, environmental, climate and energy policy. The fundamental goal is to create an optimal business environment for sustainable growth, job creation and innovation. ATHENA European University alliance follows this lead by supporting the development of an inclusive, sustainable, and safe digital economy.
Teachers will deliver sustainability related courses in online sessions and supervise group work during the on-site sessions. Practitioners and business partners will provide problem-based cases to be solved.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) is a member of the ATHENA European University alliance. ATHENA alliance partners - medium-sized universities from nine European countries: France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain aim to accompany and shape the digital transformation of societies through joint teaching, learning, research and development while adopting an interdisciplinary approach.
VILNIUS TECH Sustainability Hub was established on April 3, 2023. Its goal is to strengthen competences in the field of sustainability, to effectively carry out university activities, to promote a unified attitude of VILNIUS TECH departments to sustainability and to foster a culture of sustainability and responsibility for the environment, society, and the region.
Project "Establishment of Integrated sustainability laboratory at VILNIUS TECH (project number 10-005-P-0003)" is financed by "New generation Lithuania" plan and funding by the Republic of Lithuania.
