VILNIUS TECH's Best Student Works Recognized at the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania
The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania has awarded prizes for the best final theses written on transportation related topics. The students of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) were also recognized at the ceremony.
In total, four Bachelor's and five Master's students from VILNIUS TECH presented their works in the competition. After the evaluation of all the presented works, the commission named Danielius Matukaitis, a Bachelor's student from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Giedrius Breive, a Master's student from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, as second-place winners. Jokubas Valiukas, a Bachelor's student from the Faculty of Transport Engineering, and Laurynas Meilas, a Master's student, were named as third-place winners.
According to the Dean of the Transport Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Oleg Prentkovskis, it is gratifying to know that not only researchers and lecturers from VILNIUS TECH with their practical and theoretical work contribute to the sustainable operation and innovation of the transport system, but students are also actively involved.
"Every year, the Ministry of Transport announces a competition for student theses on transportation topics. It’s become evident that the work of our faculty students is increasingly being noticed as it is closely related to road and railway transport, urban transport systems, transport innovations, and green transport," says Prof. Dr. O. Prentkovskis.
A total of 27 works from students in the first, second, and third study cycles from various universities and colleges in Lithuania were submitted to the competition. The Ministry's 21-member commission selected the best works and invited their authors to present their prepared presentations. After evaluation, the winners were announced.
