VILNIUS TECH „LinkMenų fabrikas“ presents the works of media winter school "Immersive music video creation"
For two weeks, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) hosted a media winter school "Immersive music video creation" at the Creativity and Innovation Centre "LinkMenų fabrikas". The result of this school was four live performance videos and song recordings of Lithuanian bands, created by the students of the winter school working intensively in international teams.
The Winter School was implemented within the Erasmus+ Mixed Intensive Programme and was attended by international and VILNIUS TECH students. Young Lithuanian music bands such as “Timohi”, “Black Spikes”, “IAMREY” and “Sirupas” also contributed to the Winter School.
Fusion of Lithuanian music groups and students
VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas” Winter School was a hybrid event - during the first week, students learned the basics of virtual production, working with the Unreal Engine, as well as audio recording, sound design, video editing, lighting and the use of equipment. Teams learnt how to write and develop a music video script.
Finally, the winter school culminated in the second week of the programme, during which the students worked intensively in the VILNIUS TECH "LinkMenų fabrikas" space.
"The advantage of this intensive winter school is the practical part of it, during which students work together with groups in real conditions and create a common result," says Mantas Tamulionis, Head of the Digital Laboratory at VILNIUS TECH "LinkMenų fabrikas".
"The bands have been chosen to suit different styles of music - metal, rap, light rock and eclectic rock/folk music styles," says Mantas Tamulionis.
According to M.Tamulionis, the task is challenging - in a short period of time, the students have to create a vision for a video of a live performance, present it and coordinate it with the band, shoot a video clip in a few hours, record the audio of the song and finally edit the final result.
International component
The Winter School was attended by students from various international institutions - the prestigious design school L'école de Design Nantes Atlantique in France, the Dun Laoghaire Institute Of Art Design + Technology in Ireland, Sofia University in Bulgaria, as well as students from the Athena European University Alliance - Mediterranean University of Greece and the University of Siegen in Germany. These international students were joined by VILNIUS TECH students from the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences.
Audio and video recordings of the live performances during the Winter School can be heard and seen here:
