VGTU staff participates in training by representatives from Coventry University, the UK
On 5-6 June, two representatives from the UK’s Coventry University – Mark Holton, Executive Director of the Research Centre for Global Learning, and Andrew Turner, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor, Teaching and Learning – visited Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) for seminars on modern teaching and learning.
On 5 June, VGTU’s academic staff and everyone interested in modern teaching methods participated in a two-hour seminar “Modern teaching and learning: needs of a future student, student-oriented teaching (focus on flipped classroom), the role of technologies in teaching process, didactic peculiarities of teaching engineering and technology sciences”.
Later, in the afternoon, academic staff of study programmes held in English and the Chairs of those study programme committees attended another seminar “Teaching and learning in an international environment: cultural differences of teaching and learning, internationalisation of study programmes, differences in the roles of lecturer and student, application of e-teaching, how to handle an international audience”.
On 6 June, the guests held a seminar for the heads of academic departments and chairs of study programmes “Academic development of organisations (analysis of Coventry case): development of portfolio of study programmes and courses, strategy of an academic development, analysis of study process data, accreditation as an academic experience”.
Coventry University is ranked among the top higher education institutions in the UK, especially, in terms of quality of studies. The University is an accredited institution to hold training courses for higher education institutions’ staff in the UK.
