VGTU Professor is awarded a Lithuanian scientists‘ prize
Head of the Department of Bridges and Special Structures of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), Professor, and Doctor of technological sciences Gintaris Kaklauskas received a prize, established by the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences in 2013.
This prize was awarded to the VGTU scientist for the scientific work cycle in technology ‘‘Innovative reinforced concrete composite physical modelling techniques and their application to the numerical modelling methods“ (1998-2012). The scientific works deal with the reinforced concrete structures modelling, explain the evaluation methods for the deformation models and cracking of the reinforced concrete.
Professor‘s contribution to the science has already been acknowledged previously. Last year, for the contribution to the applied science of mechanics, while improving structural design method, Gintaris Kaklauskas and Viktoras Gribniakas, two scientists of the Department of Bridges and Special Structures of VGTU, were awarded by the American Society of Civil Engineers. They received L.S.Moisseiff medal and four thousand dollars prize for the publication of article ’‘Eliminating shrinkage effect from moment curvature and tension stiffening relationships of reinforced concrete members” in the prestigious scientific magazine „ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering“.
