VGTU prepares for new process automation courses – training for lecturers
Automation and robotisation of processes are increasingly more common, and students must gain new competences and skills to remain competitive on the job market; thus, the university is adapting its curriculum to meet the changes in the market.
Robotic process automation (RPA) is an important area of information technologies. RPA robots carry out repetitive tasks that are boring and help to avoid mistakes made by people. Also the robots drive a new wave of productivity and efficiency. When computer software takes over boring, repetitive tasks, people have more time for analytical, higher value-added tasks that require creative thinking.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is adapting to the new challenges in the labour market and is the first in the Baltic States to start a Robotic Process Automation course in its study programmes. This course is implemented in cooperation with UiPath – one of the fastest growing developers of RPA tools – and government agency Invest Lithuania. On 23-24 January, training for faculty members of Faculties of Business Management and Fundamental Sciences, who teach process automation and intend to include RPA topics in their course curricula and train students to use process automation tools, has been held.
The training participants learned about the UiPath platform and how it should be used to work with students during classes. The training has been held by representatives of Office Samurai, who have substantial international experience.
Invest Lithuania data shows that 34% of service centres in Lithuania are already using various solutions of robotic process automation.
