VGTU held the biggest international civil engineering conference in the Baltic countries
Professional civil engineers, construction enthusiasts and scientists had marked the May 26-27th on their calendars in bright red a long time ago – VGTU Faculty of Civil Engineering was hosting the 12th international conference in civil engineering „Modern Building Materials, Structures and Techniques“ at „Best Western Vilnius“ conference centre in Vilnius.
“Congratulations to everyone in the audience gathered into an extraordinary event – the biggest and the oldest civil engineering conference in the Baltic countries. For VGTU, as a leading university in the field of construction, it is of vital importance that we are able to attract a growing number of the most prominent experts in the field from Europe and other countries, including USA and Australia”, - wishing a fruitful day for all the conference participants said VGTU Vice-Rector for Research Antanas Čenys.
The already traditional conference held by VGTU Faculty of Civil Engineering was aimed at a wide range of senior civil engineering students and researchers as well as the companies who are using or creating modern materials, structures and technologies. This year around 350 scientists from more than 20 countries were participating in the conference and delivering 200 presentations on contemporary issues in civil engineering.
As usual the conference covered all the most relevant fields of science in civil engineering and is held in thematic sessions, reflecting the main conference topics: innovative structures and their computing methods, modern building materials, new technologies, renovation, etc. Starting from year 1991, every third annual conference ”Modern Building Materials, Structures and Techniques” provides a great opportunity for researchers from Lithuania and other countries to discover each other’s potential, find partners for professional training visits, and develop comprehensive collaborative activities. The peer-reviewed selected papers shall be published in “Procedia Engineering” by one of the most famous research publishers “Elsevier”.
Conference partners: The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, European Council of Civil Engineers, The Association of European Civil Engineering Faculties, International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (Lithuanian group), The Association of European Operational Research Societies (EWG-ORSDCE). The main sponsors of the conference this year are SOFiSTiK AG and UAB CSD INŽINIERIAI – official SOFiSTiK representative in the Baltic countries.
