VGTU foreign students attended lecture on career
On November 12, foreign students studying at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), participated at the open lecture "Career – Challenges and Opportunities", organised specially for them.
During the lecture, Ugnė Narkevičiūtė, the Career Services Specialist from the Integration and Career Department, introduced career services to foreign students. Students have the opportunity to register and meet with the Integration and Career Department’s professionals for discussions on CV and cover letter preparation, on the issues of job searching strategies as well as preparation for job interview. During the lecture students learned about the latest international trends in the labour market, the largest innovative companies and the most expensive brands in the world.
According to the students’ opinion, career is associated with success, gradually achieving its objectives, in case the job is interesting. The majority of students preferred to have their career in an international company. The lecturer explained that career in modern world is a continuous process for a person with different roles in various fields, such as studies, job, volunteering job, family life, which while correlating with each other, form their career.
Students learned about the amendments to the Order of the Republic of Lithuania on the Terms and Approval of the Description of the Procedure of Issuance of Work Permits for Foreigners, valid from 30 October 2014.
At the end of the lecture, the lecturer informed about the career guide for finding information about international companies, career possibilities, CV and cover letter preparation, personal image formation, networking and other relevant information. She invited foreign students to participate at VGTU Career Days, to meet employers and to exchange contacts as well as to talk about their career prospects.
The open lecture was organized by VGTU Centre for International Studies and the Integration and Career Office.
