VGTU “Career Days 14”: looking for a job or useful acquaintanceship
“Career Days 14” started at VGTU and will continue for several months with motto “Come and Meet”. Students will learn not only from the outstanding company leaders, but also from charismatic and brave stars of entertainment world, such as “Radistai”,Tadas Vidmantas, Gediminas Jaunius and others.
“Finding a job for a young specialist is a real challenge, so we suggest career planning from the first study years. During “Career days” we encourage students to imitate their future job interview and establish connections with potential employers. We have already noticed, that after such meetings contracts were made, either for future job and practice place, or partnership for writing final theses and project development,”- said Vilma Navikiene, Director of Integration and Career Department at VGTU.
During two weeks of lectures, students will meet almost forty leaders - VGTU alumni, company heads or representatives, TV showmen, actors, stars of entertainment world, such as J. Smoriginas, choreographer, ballet dancer, who will tell why “It Will Be Better Next Month”, Vlada Musvydaitė, TV sports news presenter, Lithuanian running champion, she will explain why “Sports is a Circle of Luck”, Andrius Olechnovicius, coacher will tell about emotional bankruptcy, Mindaugas Ivanavicius, project director of “Sweco“, will prove why studies and job practice is correct investment and Human resources manager of enterprise group “Girteka” will “teach to sell“...
On March 19 more than forty representatives from Lithuanian and foreign companies will come to the university. During Contacts Fair they will present their companies and make acquaintances with students, reading their Curriculum Vitae.
The third part of “Career Days 14” will start in April, visiting such companies as “Schmitz Cargobull Baltic”, “DPD Lietuva” or “Lithuanian Energy” and others. According to the Director of Integration and Career Department, “large companies will make an exception for students and allow them to visit their companies, feeling the atmosphere, communicating with the employees.”

“For the second year we are trying to create a space for discussions between students and employers, looking for new ideas and partnership. We are happy that students use this chance for making useful contacts, learning about the professions from practical point of view, paying special attention to the challenges and using it for inspiration while studying and making career,”- told V. Navikiene.
Last year about three thousand students participated at the Career Festival, more than forty open lectures were organised, while employers were looking for VGTU students as future trainees, workers and experimental research partners.
