VGTU – among the best world’s universities
Today, "2015-2016 QS World University Rankings" published the International University ranking. Like last year, four from thirteen Lithuanian higher education institutions entered the list of 700 top world‘s universities this year: Vilnius University (VU), Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).
Vilnius University (VU) ranks first among the Lithuanian universities, and takes the 501-550 place, rising from 551 to 600 place on the rating table. In 701 + category, for several years in a row, three Lithuanian universities enter the list: VGTU, VAU and KTU.
"Our results are very good - we have achieved constant high position in the rankings, with more higher education institutions being evaluated every year. In many criteria, according to which the university scores are calculated, the results are better this year, as compared with those of the last year. According to the six evaluation criteria, we rose to the 401+ place, proving that we are working in the right direction and are noticed not only in Lithuania, but globally, too" - said Alfonsas Daniūnas, the Rector of VGTU.
The "QS World University Rankings" ranked VGTU on the 401+ place, according to the reputation among academics and employers, as well as the indicators in research citations, the ratio of foreign teachers and the number of international students.
Overall, this year they estimated 918 higher education institutions, as compared with 890 last year. For the fourth consecutive year, 2015-2016 QS World University Rankings recognized the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the best in the world. Harvard University took the second place, while the universities of Cambridge and Stanford shared the third place.
The other evaluation system "QS Stars" is analysing the activities of the higher education institutions in detail and is evaluating their progress in the specific areas. They awarded three-star overall rating for VGTU, which is the best-rated university in Lithuania. VGTU received the highest five-star assessment in three areas of activity: study, infrastructure and innovation.
