Unique exhibition at VILNIUS TECH to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the BAFF
On 2 March, at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), an exhibition will be opened to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF). It will be based on human stories, experiences and developments shaped by BAFF. The exhibition was created by Alise Kinasta, and the creative idea behind this event is based on a tree that symbolises BAFF and its diverse support and cooperation activities. The exhibition will be open to visitors from 9:00 to 17:00 on business day until the end of March.
“A tree has many layers — like a life of a person. We are truly happy that for 10 years we have had an opportunity to be a part of the lives of BAFF graduates. Thanks to BAFF programmes, our graduates not only acquired new knowledge, experience and contacts: these programmes also helped to strengthen the Baltic-American relations, and made sure that experts from various areas could come to the Baltic States. I am happy to state that for 10 years BAFF has developed the future Baltic leaders, and together we have made significant achievements in deepening the links between Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Unites States of America,” claims Danguole Altman, the Co-chair of BAFF Board of Directors.
BAFF was established in 2010 to give the people of the Baltic States an opportunity to complete additional educational programmes and develop professionally thanks to cooperation with the United States of America. Until 2021, the foundation had granted awards and grants for more than USD 18 million. BAFF graduates from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are from various sectors: from finance and economics to engineering, arts and culture. The total number of BAFF graduates exceeds 700. In addition, 150 organizations have been supported via the Baltic American Dialogue and Baltic American Security Exchange programmes.
“Each graduate that was included in the exhibition has a portrait that springs to life in a video story in Overly. The exhibition was created from a natural material: locally-sourced plywood covered with printed elements to enhance the visual experience of viewers. The exhibition is based on the stories of BAFF graduates. Like a family tree, it builds a link with its topic and visual realisation,” says Alise Kinasta, an artist and the author of this exhibition.
The exhibition was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of BAFF. In April, the exhibition will move to Estonia, and in May to Latvia.
