The Royal Delegation’s from Malaysia visit to VILNIUS TECH: Focusing more on maintaining strong relations and the sharing of best practices
On Friday, members of the Royal Delegation from Malaysia, His Royal Highness, and the Chancellor of the University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni, and the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zaliman Sauli, visited Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH).
The purpose of this visit was to develop a strategic partnership between the universities, promote student and academic staff exchange opportunities, participate in conferences, share ideas, best practices and academic achievements, publish joint research articles, and take part in summer schools.
"At the moment, we are travelling through the Baltic countries and with their help hoping to enter this region. We are learning to understand the region's needs, which could lead to new opportunities for cooperation between our universities and enable the exchange of best practices. Since our university is still quite new, it was founded only in 2002, we believe that you could help us improve our study programs and share your experience," said UniMAP Chancellor Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni.
VILNIUS TECH Rector Romualdas Kliukas expressed gratitude for the UniMAP delegation visit and admitted that this collaboration between universities will benefit the academic community.
"Our previous experience cooperating with universities in Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan has shown that partners in the Asia region take commitments very seriously. We hope that this partnership will help strengthen the communities of both universities through new knowledge, skills, and created opportunities. Quality education, the cultivation of future creators, innovation, and technology enhancement, I believe, will be the common ground for our researchers and professors to connect," said VILNIUS TECH Rector R. Kliukas while welcoming the guests.
During the visit, both universities presented their study programmes and ongoing projects, shared insights on the importance of technology, and discussed ways to attract students and ensure a smooth study process. UniMAP representatives expressed special interest in Lithuania's unique Financial Engineering study programme. During the meeting, VILNIUS TECH Rector R. Kliukas received the Letter of Intent confirming the intension to develop future collaboration between UniMAP and VILNIUS TECH.
The Malaysian Royal Delegation had a campus tour and presentation of VILNIUS TECH research and study facilities.
UniMAP is one of Malaysia's four universities that specialise in technology, electronics, engineering, technology engineering, science, and related fields.
This is not the first partnership between VILNIUS TECH and a Malaysian university. Since 2015, under the Erasmus+ ICM project, VILNIUS TECH has been a partner of one of the country's leading universities, the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM),
