The final of the 5th economic game "Boss ne basas 2023" took place
The final round of the 5th Economics Game, "Bosas ne basas 2023," took place on May 5th. The Department of Economic Engineering of the Faculty of Business Management at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), together with social partners - the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, the Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania, the State Enterprise State Data Agency, UAB "Investicijų ir verslo garantijos", InnoSeven Technologies UAB, and Western Union - brought together 9th-12th grade pupils for the event.
During the opening of the VILNIUS TECH final, the students and teachers were greeted by the Minister of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania, Aušrinė Armonaitė, VILNIUS TECH Vice-Rector Dr. Adas Meškėnas, and the Dean of the Faculty of Business Management, Prof. Dr. Vida Davidavičienė. The faculty's students of the Economic Engineering study program aimed at a double diploma at Kyungpook National University in South Korea shared their impressions and wished good luck.
More than 600 pupils from various regions of Lithuania participated in the selection tournaments held in March and April. The best-performing students were invited to participate in the final game, attended by about 100 students from 23 schools. The winners of the final were 5 teams: Vilnius Žvėrynas Gymnasium, Šiauliai University Gymnasium, Vilnius Gabija Gymnasium, Pabradė Ryto Gymnasium, and Pasvalys Petras Vileišis Gymnasium.
The tasks for the pupils were prepared by lecturers of the Department of Economic Engineering of the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH, together with the social partners. The easiest question for the pupils was "In which year was the euro introduced in Lithuania," and the hardest was "What were bankrupt shareholders called on the London Stock Exchange in the 19th century."
Simultaneously, while the pupils were solving tasks, their teachers had the opportunity to participate in qualification courses. This year, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agnė Šimelytė shared her experience on how to conduct classes using the "flipped classroom" method.
The chairs of the Economic Game Organizing Committee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daiva Andriušaitienė and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Renata Činčikaitė, are pleased with the active involvement of economic game partners, extensive participation of students and teachers, and note that all of this contributes to the economic literacy of pupils and the creation of state welfare.
