Studies at VGTU are suspended until the end of the quarantine
Following the announcement by the World Health Organization on the spread of COVID-19 to have become pandemic and on the basis of the decision of the Government of Lithuania we must inform that Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is suspending the study process until 27 April. The situation will be monitored and, if necessary, this period may be extended. The distance learning students continue studies the usual way.
All university courses will now be held through our distance learning facilities, commencing March 30. Please do not hesitate to contact your course teaching staff, or the Dean‘s Office in case you have questions regarding the above.
Important to know within the period of 13 March–13 April 2020:
• The library is closed. Therefore, we invite you to use VGTU Library information resources. To use VGTU Library remote services and access database is accessible only from connecting from a home computer with VPN*(VirtualPrivateNetwork). VPN installation guide >>>
To ensure the security management, as well as to avoid infringement of intellectual property rights, all activities VPN network is monitored.
• Reading rooms will be closed during this period.
• VGTU Sports and Arts Center is temporarily closed.
• University catering service will not be provided.
• Guests will not be allowed to the dormitories.
The work of VGTU’s employees will be organised in the following way:
• Research and science staff can work remotely; except the cases when experiments or research of critical importance have to be carried out;
• Teaching staff can work remotely; if needed, consultations to students should be provided via email. On 16 March, teaching staff will receive recommendations regarding distance learning.
• Assistant teaching staff works remotely.
• The administrative staff of the university’s faculties must ensure that two employees are present at the office during working hours: one representative of the faculty’s management (dean or vice-dean) and one representative of assistant administrative staff. The heads of departments must ensure that the process of studies is ready to be organized remotely (i.e. are organizing the work of teaching staff). The heads of departments must confer with the deans of the faculties regarding the organisation of work of departments’ administrators;
• Other administrative staff may work remotely under the permission of the head of their department. The departments’ heads must assess the necessity of their employees to be in the office and get the confirmation from senior management in charge of the department (the rector, vice-rector or chancellor);
• Requests for business trips from 13 March until 1 May will not be confirmed.
The premises of the university will be open from 07:00 to 18:00 on workdays; the university will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
