Orientation Days for VGTU's International Students
Orientation Days for international students start today at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU). The students came to the university under various exchange programmes. This semester VGTU hosts 200 new exchange students who will join 80 exchange students staying for their second semester at the university.
Exchange students will be greeted by Director of International Relations Office Aušra Pelėdienė and representatives of VGTU’s International Studies Centre. During the Orientation Days, the students will be introduced with the main rules and procedures at the university. Also they will meet representatives of VGTU Students' Representation and VGTU’s Innovation and Creativity Centre “LinkMenų Fabrikas”, while the representatives of ESN VGTU – who are in charge of international students' social activities – will present the events and projects planned for this semester. In addition, incoming students will learn the most important aspects of the law enforcement and will have a brief introduction on public transport system in Lithuania.
A 5-day orientation week will be filled with numerous activities, trips and classes, which reveal rich Lithuanian history and culture. New international students will be offered a trip to Trakai, Vilnius Old Town tour and other leisure entertainment. The Orientation Days shall end on the 3rd of February.
Erasmus+ exchange students mostly come from France, Germany, Turkey and Italy. Twelve students arrive under the international Erasmus+ mobility programme. They come from Salvador, Chile, Morocco, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Belarus, China, Serbia. The new international students will study at various faculties at VGTU, the majority of them will be in the Faculty of Business Management, the Faculty of Mechanics and the Faculty of Electronics.
