Kobe University from Japan to increase cooperation with VGTU
The Head of VGTU Engineering Graphics Department dr. Daiva Makuteniene was giving lectures for the students of Masuda Summer School at the Engineering Faculty of Kobe University in September.
At Kobe University Dr. Daiva Makutienene had meetings with Dr. Akio Tomiyama, Dean of Graduate School of Engineering, Dr. Naoto Ohmura, Vice Dean of Graduate School of Engineering, Dr. Kimihiro Sakagami, Head of Department of Architecture, Dr. Kazuyoshi Onishi, Head of Group of Graphic Science Education, Dr. Naoki Odaka, Vice Dean of Graduate School of Human Development and Environment to discuss recent activities and future cooperation.
The cooperation of VGTU and Kobe University started in 2014 when VGTU Faculty of Fundamental Sciences and two faculties of Kobe University signed the cooperation agreement. „In a relatively short period of time we did a lot of work together: a joint seminar “Engineering graphics studies” by VGTU and Kobe University representatives in Brussels (2014); Kobe University researchers dr. Naoki Odaka and dr. Hirotaka Suzuki delivering lectures for VGTU students and participating in international conference „Baltgraf 13“ organised by VGTU Engineering Graphics Department in Vilnius (2015). With the help of VGTU Distance Learning Centre virtual bridge with Japan was built twice – lectures for VGTU students by dr. Hirotaka Suzuki in December 2015, and lectures for Kobe University students by Arvydas Rimkus and Edgaras Timinskas – lecturers of VGTU Engineering Graphics Department in January 2016. Earlier this year A. Rimkus went to Japan with Erasmus+ teaching visit, and this September Erasmus+ professor dr. Hirotaka Suzuki is coming to VGTU under Erasmus+ programme. Our colleagues from Japan are interested in having an interinstitutional cooperation, we have plans of joint scientific publications and a joint textbook on engineering graphics in English and Japanese“, – D. Makuteniene on her plans with colleagues from Kobe University.
The visit of the Head of VGTU Engineering Graphics Department was initiated by the Kobe University. „The representatives of Kobe University are very happy about the results of on-going cooperation and shows great interest in expanding it to interinstitutional level. I head a great opportunity to work with master students during the visit, and they seemed happy and content with the newly gained knowledge“, – dr. Daiva Makuteniene on her experience in Japan.
