ESN VGTU invited the representatives of the largest European student organization to Vilnius
On Friday the representatives of Erasmus student network (ESN) from all over Europe gathered in Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU)to participate at the annual meeting of national delegates. The meeting will take place until December 14, and will address the issues of concern to international students.
The participants will discuss not only the important issues of ESN management and its corporate structure, but also the upcoming changes: from 2015, ESN will become open to the rest of the world, though in the past, only the students of the European countries could belong to this network. In addition, students will be able to participate in the Erasmus+ programme repeatedly, as well as graduates will have new opportunities to practice abroad. The results of this year will be also discussed during the meeting.
ESN is an international student organization, uniting about one hundred eighty thousand students, with about thirteen thousand and fifty members, actively involved in the activities of the organisation. The representatives not only provide advice for the international students, but also encourage them to adapt to the local communities, to contribute to voluntary social activities in their hosting countries.
A section of ESN, working in the EU, annually organises the international meeting - Council of National Delegates (CND). This year the event is being held by ESN VGTU section, the most active from the thirteen sections of Lithuania, selected for organising this event.
Each year, ESN VGTU representatives organize blood donation, as well as environmental campaigns. They join the "LET‘S MAKET IT" movement, and organize the "Erasmus Forest“: in collaboration with foresters the students are planting trees in forests. For a long time already, the international students travel to schools ("Erasmus in schools"), where they are acquainted with children, present their home countries, universities and their culture. This year, ESN VGTU in collaboration with "MOTHERS UNION" invited the Conference guests to bring children books for colouring, and later they will translate them and present to children in hospitals
