„Embassy goes to campus“ event at VGTU
On 11 September, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) hosted the “Embassy goes to campus” event initiated by H.E. Mr. Muhammad Ibnu Said, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia.VGTU community had an opportunity to learn more about Indonesia, watch performance of the folk dance group “INDA” and taste Indonesian cuisine.
During welcome speech to the guests, Rector of VGTU Prof. dr. Alfonsas Daniūnas said that this social event is a great opportunity for the community of VGTU – students, academics and administration – to discover Indonesia as a wonderful and safe country, which is noteworthy not only for its rich cultural life and booming economy, but also as an important destination for academic exchange and joint research projects.
This event also marks the conclusion of a new Collaborative Agreement, which has been signed between VGTU and the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia in July this year. Under this agreement, students from Indonesia will be able to receive scholarships for their postgraduate studies at VGTU. VGTU already has an experience of welcoming Erasmus+ exchange students at VGTU and are looking forward to welcoming degree students from Indonesia in the nearest future.
VGTU started cooperation with higher education institutions in Indonesia in 2013. Since then, two partnership agreements had been signed. Both parties have found this cooperation very beneficial. The partnership is promoted on both sides and implemented via Erasmus+ exchange of students and academics since 2016.
VGTU community showed great interest in the event which was shared with the guests from Indonesia – representatives of the Embassy and their families, folk dance group, and Embassy’s chef who prepared traditional Indonesian food.
It is worth noting that the event was organised just a few days before the 13th of September, the 73rd Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
