Business logistics deals with the issues of business processes’ optimization and management, which are crucial for an organizations’ operational efficiency, sustainable development, protection of natural resources and environment. In order to encourage the development of this area and achieve positive changes in Lithuanian companies, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) will start training professionals of business logistics.
Study program of business logistics for the Bachelor’s degree will train experts in logistics processes, able to assess, plan and organize logistics activities in modern business environment. While studying, students will receive a lot of knowledge in management of warehouses, transport services, production logistics, recycling and return logistics, information logistics, supply chain management, etc.
"These studies will train students to find business optimization solutions, related to logistics. They will learn about new kinds of logistics, will be able to make use of the systems of e-logistics, will use the principles of green or sustainable logistics", - Professor Vida Davidavičienė, Head of the Department of Business Technology of the Faculty of Business Management at VGTU, explained about the future studies.
After finishing this study program, students will be able to successfully work as logistics managers and heads of departments at production plants, trade enterprises, public institutions and other businesses, where business logistics solutions are necessary for their activities. It is expected, that some graduates will create and develop their own logistics businesses.
