5th VGTU – CalPoly summer school adventure has ended
July 27th was the day we had to say goodbye to our dear students from VGTU – CALPOLY summer school of 2017. Students left Lithuania with the best possible memories: not only they passed all of their exams, but also they saw lot of Lithuania‘s beauty! Both American and Lithuanian students had to study a lot! In five weeks they studied computer calculations, programming, technical reporting, analysed statically indeterminate structures using virtual work, slope deflection and the force method, analysed structural systems using approximate methods and influence lines.
But not everything was hard work: during their 5 weeks of being in Lithuania all students had 2 planned cultural trips. One of the trips was a three- day long journey to Lithuanian seaside. This trip included a visit to Hill of Crosses in Šiauliai, a tour in the Cold War Museum in Plateliai, the towns of Palanga, Neringa, the seaport Klaipėda and everything in between. The second trip took students to Druskininkai, where they were introduced to Lithuanian talent M.K. Čiurlionis, where they saw a lot of Lithuanian history, but also had a chance to climb trees and fly over Nemunas in UNO recreation park. The second day of the trip gave students a chance to see Merkinė and Liškiava Mounds, climb on top of them and enjoy green summer view of Lithuania.
