The ATHENA Alliance Promotes Collaboration Between Lithuanian and Ukrainian Researchers: VILNIUS TECH Hosts KPI Representatives
The collaboration between Lithuanian and Ukrainian researchers is strengthening: VILNIUS TECH hosts colleagues from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (KPI). Professors Jurii Bogomol and Oleksandr Bondarenko, who arrived under the Erasmus+ mobility program, presented the latest developments and scientific research in the fields of materials engineering and electronics at KPI. Together with their colleagues, they discussed the opportunities for the Lithuanian-Ukrainian program announced by the Lithuanian Research Council (LMT), which will support joint research projects in 2026-2027 on the topics of safe infrastructure, resilient societies and states, and human security.
Such meetings are highly valuable in strengthening collaboration within the ATHENA Alliance. They also provide opportunities for networking, sharing best practices, and getting acquainted with the latest higher education practices. The insights gained and the connections established significantly contribute to the university's efforts to enhance international relations and serve as a base for new projects.
VILNIUS TECH is a member of the ATHENA European University Alliance (https://athenauni.eu/), which continuously creates mobility and collaboration opportunities for students and staff. The ATHENA Alliance partners include universities from ten European countries: Greece, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, France, Germany, and Ukraine.
Initiative is funded by the Economic recovery and resilience plan "Next generation Lithuania" and the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.
